Former College Student In Mac-And-Cheese Video Incident Arrested Again

Luke Vincent Gatti, a former University of Connecticut freshman whose drunken, profanity-laced tirade about jalapeno-bacon macaroni and cheese at the Storrs campus went viral, was arrested in May for trying to break out of rehab, the N.Y. Daily News reported.

The 20-year-old was sent to a program to treat substance abuse following the October incident in which he pushed a cafeteria worker, said the report.

On May 27, Gatti reportedly left the rehab center shoeless, reported the Daily News.

He'd gotten there hours before from a Fort Lauderdale detox facility, according to the Daily News, citing a police report.

Gatti wanted medication and got angry with doctors there, said the report.

Upon returning to the detox center, an officer was waiting and he reportedly struck her, the Daily News said.

He'd been given accelerated rehabilitation in connection with the mac-and-cheese incident, according to NBC Connecticut.

Accelerated rehabilitation is a form of probation that means the case will be erased from Gatti's record if he avoids any legal trouble and complies with random drug tests.

Gatti, 19 when the incident occurred, was originally charged with misdemeanor breach of peace and trespassing in the incident.

Gatti, of Bayville, N.Y. on Long Island, was arrested after the Oct. 4 outburst in the student union and accused of ranting at and shoving a university food-service supervisor who had refused to sell him jalapeno-bacon macaroni and cheese because Gatti was drinking in the Union Street Market dining facility.

The former student later issued an apology to the staff via video, students and his friends and family.
