Fire Tears Through Claremont Avenue Home In Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - A fast fire tore through a Mount Vernon home on Wednesday afternoon, displacing several residents.

Smoke could be seen billowing from a home on Claremont Avenue for several blocks, where the Mount Vernon Fire Department and mutual aid partners responded shortly before 6 p.m.

The fire broke out at approximately 5:45 p.m. before a second alarm was quickly raised as flames shot through the third floor, prompting assistance from nearby departments.
