Fire Breaks Out In Mount Vernon Building

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. - Smoke could be seen billowing through the air after a fire broke out in a Mount Vernon home on Thursday.

A fire broke out in a home on the corner of Nuber Avenue and East 5th Street in Mount Vernon.

Fire crews were dispatched to the intersection of Nuber Avenue and East 5th Street at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday, following reports of a fire in a three and a half story home. Smoke was visible from the street coming from the upper floors.

The fire was contained and officials confirmed the main body of the fire was knocked down within an hour. No injuries were immediately reported.
