Police used a drone to help with the investigation due to the amount of damage to both cars, and the amount of debris littering the roadway. Police said speed may have been a factor with the amount of damage, according to lohud.com.

New Rochelle police, who are investigating the accident, told lohud it appears the crash happened after a BMW sedan heading east was hit by a westbound Toyota, which may have been making a turn onto Wood Place. The father of one of young man in critical condition said the group was headed to a graduation.

The injuries to the New Rochelle and Mount Vernon residents, range from head injuries to broken legs, arms, wrists, and internal injuries, lohud.com reported. The most seriously injured man was in surgery at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx on Wednesday night.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 914-654-2220.
