The accident happened at about 10 a.m. at the intersection of North and Hamilton avenues. Officials said the Route 45 bus, which was in service, had just made a stop on North Avenue when the ConEd truck crashed into it while trying to make a right turn onto Hamilton Avenue.
One injury was reported, police said. A man who had been on the bus got off and left. He came back about an hour later saying his leg was hurt. Medical staff took the man to Sound Shore Medical Center, where he was being treated.
A tow truck called to the scene to remove the utility truck was not large enough to do so. Officials were waiting at about noon to clear the road and reopen it.
