Police say that on Tuesday, Sept. 16 they were notified of a threat made on the social media app Yik Yak in the vicinity of the Yorktown High School campus. The application allows anonymous posts that can only be viewed by people within a one a half-mile radius.
The post made comments about bullying and a non-specific threat that "the school will explode," according to police. Yorktown police conducted an investigation and located the male at his residence with assistance of GPS tracking associated with the application.
The male was arrested and transported to the Yorktown police department for processing. He was later released to a parent and issued a ticket to appear at the Westchester County Department of Probation on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. If charged as an adult, Making a Terrorist Threat is classified as a Class D felony.
