11 Displaced After House Fire Breaks Out In Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. - Members of the American Red Cross are assisting 11 people in Yonkers who were displaced following a fire in their Nepperhan Avenue home on Sunday.

A basement fire broke out at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, officials confirmed, prompting a heavy response from dozens of firefighters.

The fire is believed to have been started my an electrical malfunction, though an official cause has not yet been released. Six adults and five children were displaced from the multi-family home and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The families were able to escape the home safely, though two firefighters reportedly suffered minor injuries.
