Message from the New Rochelle Public Library Director

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- The New Rochelle Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Please send letters to newrochelle@dailyvoice.com.

Dear Patrons,

Libraries help change lives. This adage is particularly appropriate during difficult economic times.

February's school-vacation week supports my statement.

Upon visiting New Rochelle Public Library, one would have encountered a place filled with people and activity. Our programming ran nearly non-stop and garnered large audiences.

Our children’s, teen and adult library spaces (and collections) witnessed heavy traffic and usage. Computers were amply utilized and our fine public service staff was fully engaged in meeting a wide variety of patron needs.

New Rochelle, like the rest of our nation, is just beginning to recover from an economic downturn.

Nonetheless, our library stands ready to assist our residents seven days week during these challenging times.

We have a collection of diverse materials (books, magazines, DVDs, audio books as well as the increasingly popular e-books) to meet your needs, either professional or personal.

Additionally, our workforce development efforts provide a smorgasbord of services and programs designed to help you in finding/upgrading jobs, obtaining social service resources and benefits, and successful completion of e-forms for a variety of purposes.

Also included are senior benefit analysis, TASC (formerly GED) Preparation, basic computer literacy, popular software training and assistance as well as small business counseling.

Happily, such offerings are free to all.

Please visit in person or pay a virtual visit through our library web site, www.nrpl.org.

To learn more about our exciting and relevant programs and services. As always, feel free to contact me at tgeoffino@nrpl.org or 914-632-7879 if you have any questions or suggestions.

Best regards,

Tom Geoffino
