NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Robert W. Gillen, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died April 2. He was 99.
Gillen was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Mt. Vernon to James and Elizabeth (Chambers) Gillen. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a truck driver for the Gannon Co. in Mount Vernon for many years.
Gillen is survived by his sons, Brian and Robert Jr.; daughters-in-law Rose and Barbara; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
