NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Robert Green Jr., a lifelong New Rochelle resident, died Sept. 12. He was 86.
Born Feb. 18, 1926, in New Rochelle, he was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Archer Green. He graduated from New Rochelle public schools and served in the Navy. Green retired as head custodian for the New Rochelle Board of Education.
He was member of Bethesda Baptist Church of New Rochelle and Xenia Lodge No. 50. He was married to Grace Shirley Wade Green, who predeceased him.
Green is survived by two daughters, Karen L. Long and Paula Moore; four sisters, Barbara Stevens, Gloria Hollis, Jean Coleman and Shirley Poinsette; a brother, Walter Green; and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Green was also predeceased by a son, Robert L. Green; and four siblings, George, Edward, Mary Ann Green and Joan Simmons.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Barney T. McClanahan Funeral Home in New Rochelle. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Baptist Church in New Rochelle.
