Richard H. Sutton, 83, New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Richard H. Sutton, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Sunday, Jan. 17. He was 83.

He was born July 19, 1932, in New Rochelle, to Anthony T. and Catherine (Scaffidi) Sutton. 

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a corporate vice president at the Bank of New York until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Sutton; two grandchildren, Ryan Pierce and Melissa Pierce; two brothers, Anthony F. and Dexter (Anne-Marie) Sutton; and his sister, Geraldine (Joe) Barrese.

His wife, the former Mary Godfrey, died in 1996. His two sons, Jeffery Thomas and David Richard Sutton, died in 1980. He also was predeceased by his siblings Rex, William and Patricia Sutton.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
