Popular New Rochelle School Teacher Lauren Denninger Dies At 43

Lauren Denninger of New Rochelle sadly died on Friday, Aug. 18. She was 43.

She was born June 9, 1974 in New Rochelle to Allan and Margaret Denninger. She grew up in Bethel, Conn., before relocating to New Jersey where she graduated from Georgian Court University. Lauren receive double master's degrees in both Special Education and School Administration. 

She was a dedicated faculty member of the New Rochelle City School system since 1998, where she worked as a Special Education teacher and facilitator at the Isaac E. Young Middle School.

Lauren was an athlete who enjoyed dance, playing softball, basketball, and soccer. As an educator, she devoted her time to helping students excel in and outside the classroom. She committed herself to many hours of tutoring after-school and on weekends to support students with their reading development using her Wilson Reading expertise.

She encouraged students on the playing field as a basketball coach, initiated and coached a step dance team, and coordinated the yearbook.

Lauren's intuitive nature, endless patience, and compassion for all children made her a natural in the classroom. Her students, colleagues, friends and family will remember her as the ultimate fighter with a bright, dimpled smile, contagious laugh, and enthusiasm for life.

She is survived by the love of her life, her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Denninger. In addition, she leaves behind her devoted father, Allan, siblings, Cory Denninger and his wife, Anna, Kelly Denninger, and Tara Denninger, and dear nephews, Scott, Stephen and Jameson Denninger. She is also survived by her many loving friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Peggy.

Lauren has touched endless lives, and will be greatly missed by all her knew her. To honor Lauren's life, family and friends will gather on Monday, Aug. 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home at 767 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22nd at 10 a.m. at Saints John and Paul RC Church, followed by internment at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to NY Medical College of Cancer Research. In addition, donations can be made to a college fund for Lauren's daughter, Margaret. For more information or to place an online condolence, visit www.coxeandgraziano.com.
