Jim O'Toole was my first editor and mentor when I took on a new career as a journalist at 36. He taught me to write "straight" and pulled no punches when he read my work. My career was inspired by his honesty and his love of sports. Whatever human frailties Jim had paled in comparison to his humor, passion for his work and love of his family and friends. He will be missed.
