Michael C. Carideo, 88, Former New Rochelle Resident

DERRY, N.H. - Michael C. Carideo of Derry, formerly of New Rochelle, died Thursday, March 13. He was 88.

Carideo was born Nov. 18, 1925, in the Bronx, he was the son of Julius and Anna (Spaziante) Carideo. He was raised in the Bronx and later in Mount Vernon. He lived most of his life in New Rochelle prior to relocating to Derry in 1991.

He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and worked for many years as a New York City bus driver with Liberty Bus Lines. After his retirement and move to New Hampshire, he volunteered with the Westside Senior Center of Manchester, including their "Meals on Wheels" program.

Carideo is survived by his daughter, Marianne (Alan) Gentile of Derry; two grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Catherine (Plati) Carideo; son, Julius Carideo; and brother, Louis Carideo.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Westchester Funeral Home, Inc., Eastchester. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19 at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carideo’s name to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, PO Box, 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
