NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Mario J. DiMondo Sr., a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23. He was 88.
He was born on July 18, 1927, to Lazzaro and Vincenza (Cestone) DiMondo.
He was the owner of the Mario J. DiMondo Insurance Agency in New Rochelle for more than 50 years. He served on the New Rochelle Housing Authority, the New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame and Modern Woodmen of America along with many other organizations.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army and also in the Korean War having served in the Navy.
His wife, Clorinda Marie, died in 1990.
He is survived by his sons Mario and his wife Felice DiMondo Jr., James and his wife, Anne Marie DiMondo, Richard and his wife Lisa DiMondo and Mark and his wife, Kimberly DiMondo; his four grandchildren Mario Joseph, Toni Ann, Mason Douglas and Mila Jane.
He was predeceased by two brothers Jake and Michael and a sister Edith Italiano.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery.
