Marietta Benedetto, 87, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Marietta Molea Benedetto, a lifelong New Rochelle resident, died Oct. 7. She was 87. 

Benedetto graduated from St. Gabriel's High School and worked at Haas Linen Shop and Mallory Furniture before marrying Bill Benedetto. They were married on Nov. 3, 1946, at St. Joseph's Church in New Rochelle. 

She later worked for New Rochelle schools as a teacher's assistant for more than 25 years before retiring in 1991. Benedetto was a former president of the New Rochelle Catholic Women's Club and a member of the New Rochelle Women's Club. She was also a communicant of Holy Family Church in New Rochelle. 

Benedetto enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, reading on her Kindle, playing Words With Friends on her iPad, and a weekly Mah Jong game with her closest friends for the last 40 years. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas William "Bill" Benedetto. She is survived by five daughters, Carol Benedetto (Ransom) Ward, of North Carolina, and Marietta Benedetto, Loretta Benedetto (Stanley) Marvel, Alicia (Joseph) DePaolo and Maria (David) Fazio, all of New Rochelle; two brothers, Anthony (Camille) Molea and the Hon. Richard (Virginia) Molea; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Marion Vento Molea; and a sister, Anita Molea  

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in New Rochelle.
