Maria 'Lupe' Summo, 93, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Summo, 93, the widow of Joseph Summo and a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Born Dec. 6, 1921, in rural Mexico, she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Maria Ventura Diaz.

Summo came to New Rochelle in 1950 to work as a housekeeper for an affluent Mexican woman. She was a communicant of and very active in St. Joseph’s Church.

Survivors include three sons, Rocco (Helene), Joseph (Francesca) and Richard (Jeanne) Summo; and four grandchildren.

Calling hours are Sunday, Jan. 4, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Monday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 280 Washington Ave., New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
