Lois (Rogers) Manning, 83, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Lois (Rogers) Manning, 83, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Friday, Aug. 7.

She was the daughter of the late Russell G. and Florence M. Rogers. She was born in New Jersey July 2, 1932, and lived in Teaneck before moving to Binghamton, New York. She later moved to New Rochelle as a teenager where she resided for the remainder of her life. She graduated from New Rochelle High School, where she also met her husband, Joseph. She attended Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire.

Prior to retiring, Manning was employed by Claire D. Leone Real Estate in Scarsdale. She was the wife of the late Joseph S. Manning III.

Manning enjoyed travel, antiques and gardening. She was an accomplished rug hooker and was known for her love of dogs. She was an excellent swimmer who loved the beach and had a passion for ice-skating in her youth.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph S. IV and Christopher L. Manning, both of Somers, New York; a daughter, Jill Manning Hartzell of Hingham, Massachusetts; and nine grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6-9 p.m. at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar St., Bronxville, New York. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Post Road, Scarsdale, New York. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The American Cancer Society and The SPCA of Westchester.
