Julia Carey, 92, Longtime New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Julia F. Carey, a longtime New Rochelle resident, died July 28. She was 92.  

Carey was born June 7, 1920, in New York City to Thomas and Julia Callahan Ryan. She worked as a librarian at the New York Public Library for many years. 

She is survived by a son, John (Patricia) Carey; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Rosary Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where burial will follow. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, 175 Route 340, Sparkill, NY 10976.
