Joseph O'Brien, 86, Longtime New Rochelle Resident; Korean War Veteran

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Joseph O'Brien, 86, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on Sunday, Feb. 22.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1928, in New Rochelle, to Daniel and Marguerite Hynes O'Brien.

O’Brien served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a liquor salesman for many years as well as the owner of The Giant Step restaurant in New Rochelle .

Survivors include three children, Donna Reeves, Kerry McFarlin and Terri Coleman; two stepchildren, Geoff Berry and Gayle Zoechbauer; one brother, Richard O'Brien; his first wife, Betty Berry; his second wife, Helen O'Brien; and nine grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Church of the Holy Family, 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle.

Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 95 Kings Highway, New Rochelle.
