John Sargeant, 77, Longtime New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – John Sargeant, a longtime New Rochelle resident, died Sept. 20. He was 77. 

Sargeant was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Greenwich, Conn. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked at Trinity and Jefferson schools in New Rochelle for more than 35 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Eileen McGee Sargeant; two daughters, Melissa Sargeant and Tara (Anthony) Nolan; a sister, Harriett; a stepsister, Donna Shura; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visiting hours are 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Saturday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle, with a service at 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
