Jane 'Jean' R. Shanley, 99, Longtime New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Jane "Jean" R. Shanley, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on Sunday, March 20. She was 99.

Born in Ireland, Shanley had a flair for dancing, from ballroom to tap. She was a volunteer for New Rochelle Meals for years.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnieces.

Shanley was predeceased by her husband Thomas Shanley; parents Thomas and Mary Ann (Rankin) Rooney; and siblings Buddy, Rita, Thomas and Bernard.

Visiting hours will be from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, in New Rochelle. A funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, in Queens.
