CHARLOTTE, N.C. - James Alexander Macera (Vincenzo Macera) of Charlotte, formerly of New Rochelle, N.Y., died July 15. He was 95.
Macera was born Oct. 20, 1918, in White Plains, to Giovanna Centrella and Vincenzo Macera. He and his wife Patricia made their home in New Rochelle, N.Y. He graduated from White Plains High School and was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force. He owned Wykagyl Market, a fruit, vegetable, and gourmet business in New Rochelle for over 40 years.
Macera is survived by his wife, Patricia Donnelly Macera of Charlotte; children, Jeanne Mcleod (Rod) of Huntersville, Lindsay Piscitello (Carl) of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Lisa Sandhaus (Craig) of Huntersville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Vincenzo; son, James Alexander Macera, Jr. of New Rochelle, N.Y.; brothers, Anthony Macera, Charles Macera, Joseph Macera; and sisters, Rose Caminiti and Antoinette Casilinova.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Home and at the home of Lindsay and Carl Piscitello of 34 John Alden Road, New Rochelle, from 6 to 9 p.m.. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Holy Name Church, 74 Petersville Road,New Rochelle.
