Breaking News: Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center Dies After Single-Car Crash

Jack LaBella, 69, Retired New Rochelle Fire Captain

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Jack LaBella, a retired New Rochelle Fire Department captain and resident of North White Plains, died Dec. 7 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 69.

He was born April 22, 1943, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Leonard and Lillian Ward LaBella. A New Rochelle firefighter for 32 years, LaBella retired as a captain. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the New Rochelle Empire Hogs Motorcycle club.

An avid fisherman and singer, LaBella loved to barbecue with his friends and family. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of the Hatuey Cigar Lounge, his family said.

LaBella is survived by his wife, Susan Coppola; three sons, Mark Leonard, Zachary and Christopher LaBella; a stepson, Russell Coppola; a stepdaughter, Sara Kilgallen; three brothers, Leonard (Rose) LaBella, Robert LaBella and Fred LaBella; a sister, Lorraine LaBella; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Graham.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at Holy Name Church in New Rochelle. Interment will be private.
