Pierce was born Sept. 20, 1915, in New York City, to Harrison and Katherine O’Connor Pierce of Garden City, N.Y. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Pierce met and fell in love with Virginia Dwyer, whom he married on Nov. 28, 1942. Their love and marriage thrived for over 60 years until her passing in 2002. He served as captain in the U.S Army in Italy during World War II. Having worked in the frozen food business, he went on to form Harrison Pierce and Co.
He was a communicant at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle for the last 70 years. He was a member of Wykagyl Country Club since 1954.
Pierce is survived by his children, Harrison III (Maggie), Marina Nolan (James), Allys Macken (John), Jacinta McCarthy (David) and John Franklin (Beth); 17 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Virgina; daughter, Marina; daughter- in- law, Joan Cotter Pierce; and three cousins.
Calling hours are Thursday, Nov. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16, Shea Pl. New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at Holy Family Church. Interment will be private at Calverton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of N.Y., or Montefiore, New Rochelle.
