Gloria Pizzorno, 87, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Gloria Pizzorno of New Rochelle died Sept. 9. She was 87.

Pizzorno was born Jan. 20, 1926, in Chicago, daughter of Emilia (Morra) and Carlo Pizzorno. She was a lifelong resident of Greenwich Village in New York City until March of  this year. She was the granddaughter of Angelina Morra, founder of Angelina’s Restaurant, an establishment that was opened in 1936 and remained in operation at the same Greenwich Village location for more than 50 years. She worked in the family business with her brothers and retired in 1991 before beginning a second career as an office assistant for Dr. Peter Zeale. She retired at the age of 84.

Pizzorno is survived by her daughters, Christine Zullo Bonesteel of New York City and Angela Derecas Taylor of New Rochelle; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Bruno and Mario Pizzorno; and sons, Emil Zullo and Peter Zullo.

A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc. located at 16 Shea Place in New Rochelle.
