Edward Ryan, 84, Of New Rochelle, Korean War Veteran, Retired Accountant

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Edward Ryan, 84, a longtime New Rochelle resident, died Tuesday, April 14.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in New York City, to the late Sean and Winifred Barry Ryan.

Ryan served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He worked as a partner for many years at Ernst & Young Accounting Firm in New York City, retiring as partner in charge of tax.

He was a longtime member of the Church of the Holy Family.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine McElligott Ryan; six sons, John (Ming), David (Carol), Ted (Paula), Donal (Carla), Thomas (Kara), and Timothy Ryan; one daughter, Sheila (Denis) Ring; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Ryan and Margaret McElligott; one brother, John (Jeanette) Ryan; one brother-in-law, Maurice McElligott; and 16 grandchildren.

One brother, William Ryan, preceded him in death.

Calling hours are 5-9 p.m., Thursday, at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at the Church of the Holy Family, 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle.

Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
