Edward R. Kozlowski, 86, Owned Karel Industries, Inc, In New Rochelle

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - Edward R. Kozlowski of Uncasville, and formerly of Southport, died Dec. 30. He was 86.

Kozlowski was born Dec. 20, 1927, in the Bronx, N.Y.; son of John and Josephine (Lisinski) Kozlowski. He was a United States Marine Veteran of World War II. After marriage he moved to Southport in 1961. He was a tool and die maker by trade and along with his brother, Matthew, owned and operated Karel Industries, Inc. in New Rochelle, N.Y., from 1960 to 1976. He then worked as design engineer for Micromatic Fabrication Inc., in Stamford where he designed prototypes for Cuisinart food processors until his retirement in 1989. He moved from Southport to Uncasville in 1998 and worked in Security at Mohegan Sun Casino until very recently.

Kozlowski is survived by his wife, Josephine (Plessl) Kozlowski; children, Betty Stumbris (Vincent) of Stratford, Jeanne Arcoma (Peter) of Seymour and Edward Kozlowski (Michelle) of Colchester; sister, Helen O'Connor of Long Island; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Matthew.

Calling hours are Saturday, Jan. 11 before service time from 12 to 2 p.m. at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
