Dr. Saul Soloway, 98, Longtime New Rochelle Resident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Dr. Saul Soloway, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died May 30. He was 98.

Soloway was born April 12, 1916, in the Bronx, to Phillip and Bertha (Elkin) Soloway. He studied at the City College of New York, where he gained his bachelor arts degree in science, and studied at Columbia University, where he gained his doctorate in organic chemistry. He worked as an organic chemistry college professor for City College of New York, and as an organic chemist for various companies.

Soloway is survived by his daughters, Susan (Thomas) DeAngelis, Irene (Gene) Marrotte, Cathy Chiappa; four grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Catharine; son, Daniel; and sisters, Clara Graham and Eleanor Katz.

Calling are Monday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel , 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery.
