David Sidney Lee, Of New Rochelle, 94

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- David Sidney Lee, a resident of New Rochelle, died on Tuesday, Feb. 17. He was 94. 

He was born on June 27, 1920 to David Lee and Isabelle Pugsley Lee Brown.

He graduated from New Rochelle schools and vocational school.

He was a member of St. Catherine AME Zion Church where in later years he was active as a trustee and member and knowledge bank for the church historical committee. 

Lee served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at the former Airequipt Manufacturing Co. and then for 22 years at H. Muehlstein & Co. and Interstate Lumber.

He was formerly active with Westchester County Basketball Officials Association. Board 52, the Westchester Baseball Umpires Association., the NYS Baseball Umpires Association and the New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department. Lee was inducted in the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.

Additionally, Lee was a past Commander of VFW Post 2882, Maceo Bacon & Charles W. Dickerson Drum Corp. Alumni; the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association and Prince Hall Masons Xenia Lodge No.50.

He is survived by his daughter Lenorelle F. Lee who is known as Cookie.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Rosina Bracey. 

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Catherine AME Zion Church 19 Lincoln Ave., New Rochelle.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Barney T. McClanahan Funeral Home, Inc.
