NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Danzie B. Mills of New Rochelle died Aug. 3 after a lengthy illness. She was 85.
Mills was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Laurinburg, N.C., to John G. and Rosie Graham McArthur. She graduated from public schools in Laurinburg and was employed as a housekeeper for many years.
A 67-year resident of New Rochelle, Mills was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in New Rochelle and the senior usher ministry. She was married to John D. Mills, who predeceased her.
Mills is survived by a daughter, Janet Moore; a son, Michael (Tracy) Mills; a brother, John Gaston McArthur; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A daughter, Jacquilla Mills, predeceased her.
The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye. Barney T. McClanahan Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
