Benz was born on June 16, 1943, in Canada to Charles and Katherine (nee Wells) Benz. He graduated from New Rochelle schools.
He was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law, Rocco Carino. He is survived by his wife, Linda; a sister, Kathy Gareri, and her husband, Charlie; a brother, Robert Benz, and his wife, Maureen; his mother-in-law, Violet; a sister-in-law, Lisa Correale and her husband, Ross; his nieces, Tara Orsini and her husband, John, and Kacey Torpey; and his nephews, Michael Benz and Christopher and Stephen Correale.
Visiting hours are Thursday, April 23, from 4-8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A funeral service will take place Friday, April 24, at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
