Carmella Cesario, 90, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Carmella DiIorio Cesario, a lifelong resident of the south side of New Rochelle, died July 23 at Bayberry Care Center after a long illness. She was 90. 

Cesario was born July 12, 1922, in New Rochelle to Joseph and Maria Donata Ruccolo DiIorio. Cesario enjoyed attending Isaac E. Young School when she was young and frequent outings with her friends and family to Glen Island.

She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle. For most of her life she was a homemaker, which her family said that she greatly enjoyed. She also worked at the Rex, New Rochelle City Hall and Jefferson School. 

Her husband, Michael Cesario, died on July 16, 2005.

Cesario is survived by a son, Michael; two daughters, Patricia and Christine; six grandchildren; a great-grandson, Luca; a sister-in law; a son-in-law; a daughter-in law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Antoinette Silvestro, of Mamaroneck. 

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery in New Rochelle.
