Brother Lawrence Alphonsus Killelea, 89, Of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Brother Lawrence Alphonsus Killelea, of New Rochelle, died on Monday, June 15. He was 89.

Killelea was born on Nov. 2, 1925, in New York City to Patrick and Delia Quirk Killelea.

He attended St. John's Elementary School, Power Memorial Academy, St. Joseph's Juniorate and Fordham University.

He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1944, and went on to serve as an educator in various schools across New York State.

He is survived by his niece, Eileen Cooper, nephew Kevin Killelea and sister-in-law, Peggy.

Killelea was predeceased by his three siblings Edward and Thomas Killelea and Catherine Smyth.

A wake will be held at St. Joseph's Residence, 30 Montgomery Circle in New Rochelle, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Mayflower Avenue in New Rochelle, on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will be at the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park.
