NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Barbara Klein, 78, of New Rochelle died on Monday, Feb. 2.
She is survived by her son Gary and his wife Betsy Schreuer; daughter Alisa and her partner Amy Stamm; son Andrew. her five grandchildren, Daniel, Benjamin, Lydia, Rachel, and Joshua Klein, and many beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Max Gellert, and sister Violet Aaronson.
Barbara grew up in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. She received a bachelor's degree from Hunter College and worked as a grade school teacher until she had children of her own.
She loved cooking for her family and friends, known as a gourmet chef and creative party planner. Barbara was an active and much-loved member of the Garito Manor retirement community and Larchmont Temple, proud to be a congregant and volunteer for over four decades.
Her outgoing nature and extraordinary good humor will be missed by loved ones.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Larchmont Temple, 75 Larchmont Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Epilepsy Foundation of America.
