Tenore was born on May 12, 1925, to Gus and Lena (Tortorella) Tenore.
He graduate from New Rochelle High School and served in the Army as a sergeant stationed in Okinawa during World War II.
Upon his return home, he worked at Neptune Worldwide Moving Company for more than 40 years, then in Playland's auditing department for more than 20 years, eventually spending the last nine years working with his son and grandson at his son's funeral home, Lloyd Maxcy and Sons.
He is survived by wife Marie (DeMelia); son Stephen, grandson Robert P. Smillie, and son-in-law Robert Smillie.
Tenore was predeceased by daughter Karen, son Kenneth and brother Carmine,
Visiting hours will be on Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc., 16 Shea Place in New Rochelle.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery.
