NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Antonio Sgro, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on April 28. He was 91.
Sgro was born on Sept. 28, 1923 in Gagliato, Cantanzaro, Italy to Salvatore and Vittoria (nee DeLuca) Sgro.
He served in the Italian Army during World War II and worked at the NYAC in Pelham.
Sgro is survived by his wife, Sara Amato, his son Salvatore and his wife Marie; his daughter Vittoria Gallello and her husband Vito; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, at 16 Shea Place in New Rochelle.
A funeral mass is set for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church.
Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
