Anne Hughes, 104, Longtime New Rochelle, Waitress, Wykagyl Country Club

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Anne Hughes, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died May 13. She was 104.

Hughes was born June 3, 1909, in Co. Galway, Ireland, to John and Margaret (O’Malley) Cloonan. She worked for over 23 years as a waitress at the Wykagyl Country Club.

Hughes is survived by her son, Thomas Hughes; daughter, Margaret Mendola (Thomas); eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Thomas.

Calling hours are Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, May 19 at Holy Name Church. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
