NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Ann Amante of New Rochelle died June 9 at her home. She was 89. 

Amante was born July 29, 1922 in Yatesboro, Pa. She was the third of 10 children born to Victor and Fannie Polisuk. Her family relocated to Detroit, Mich. After 20 years in Detroit, Amante moved to New York City with her sisters, Mary and Helen, and met her husband, the late Joseph Amante. 

Along with her husband, Amante owned and managed La Rochelle Florist at 520 North Ave. in New Rochelle. She continued to manage the business another 25 years after her husband died in 1978. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. 

Amante is survived by her two daughters, Carol Ann and Kathleen Amante-Dickter; a son, Richard; a sister, Julie Sulkowski and two grandsons. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at George T. Davis Funeral Home in New Rochelle. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Church in New Rochelle. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
