Amalie Meyer, 90, Founder, Hudson Country Montessori School In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Amalie (Musya) Meyer of New Rochelle died Friday, Sept. 12. She was 90.

Meyer was born in Sarata, Romania, to Albert F. Hobbacher and Mathide Lutze. She was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church. She was the founder of Hudson Country Montessori School of New Rochelle and Danbury, Conn. She was the former vice president of Teacher Development and Education on the Board of the American Montessori Society.

Meyer is survived by her son, Mark Meyer (Megin) of Danbury Conn.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Ortwin August Meyer; and daughter, Lynn Meyer of Larchmont.

Calling hours are Tuesday, September 16 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY 10538. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11 Wilmot Road, New Rochelle, NY 10804.
