Adeline Harpootlian, 88, New Rochelle Business Owner

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Adeline Mary DeRosa Harpootlian of New Rochelle died Nov. 30 at Erie Presbyterian Lodge in Erie, Pa. She was 88.

Harpootlian was born July 25, 1924, in New Rochelle to Lucy Cioffari DeRosa Lapero and Carlo DeRosa. She graduated from Albert Leonard High School. She and her late husband, John Harpootlian, operated Westchester Carpet Company for many years.

She also worked as an office manager for IBM for 20 years. Her greatest love was music and she was part of Violette's Kazooettes for more than 25 years. The group sang for residents of nursing homes, senior centers and Sound Shore Medical Center for many years. She also volunteered at Sound Shore for more than 30 years.

She is survived by a son, John Harpootlian; a daughter, Linda Matz; and four grandchildren. Harpootlian was predeceased by three sisters, Rosemary Phillips, Frances Meyer and Jean Macri; and her Godchild, John Patterson.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A service will be held at noon Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Flushing, N.Y.
