Yonkers Man Pleads Guilty In Girlfriend's Death

YONKERS, N.Y. -- A Yonkers man pleaded guilty to several charges including two counts of vehicular manslaughter in connection to an August car accident that killed his girlfriend, according to Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

Court documents say William Watkins-Gomes, 27, was driving a 2005 Honda Civic on South 5th Avenue when his vehicle jumped a curb, sideswiped a building and crashed into a tree. 

Kelly Williams, 31, who was a passenger in the car and Watkins-Gomes' girlfriend was killed as a result of her injuries, the district attorney's office said. 

A Sample of Watkis-Gomes' blood revealed his blood alcohol content to be .10 percent. The blood sample also contained THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, according to the district attorney. 

Watkins-Gomes pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, count of driving while intoxicated, one count of driving while ability impaired, one count of reckless driving and two traffic violations the district attorney said. 

Watkins-Gomes faces a maximum of seven years in prison. He will be sentenced on on Tuesday, May 20 according to the district attorney's office.
