NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle residents planning out their week can check here for a look at many of the things going on in the city.

New Rochelle Public Schools start the 2011-2012 school year Wednesday. New Rochelle High School opens its doors for ninth graders Wednesday. Ninth and 10th graders will then attend together Thursday with all grades in classes Friday.

The Daniel Webster Parent Teacher Association is hosting a Welcome Back Coffee at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Henry Barnard Elementary School will have a Welcome Back BBQ at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, while the Albert Leonard Middle School Parent Teacher Association has a PTA Tailgate.

At Jefferson Elementary School, the PTA will be having a Welcome Breakfast Thursday at 8 a.m.  Other happenings include the Museum of Arts and Culture's "Under the Sea" Exhibit, currently on display until Sept. 16.

A flag placement ceremony in honor of the 2,976 victims of Sept. 11 will be held in front of City Hall Friday at 6 p.m. The Volunteer Center of United Way will also have a call to service at the Westchester County Center, also on Friday.

A Kids Snapper Fishing Derby will be held Sunday at Hudson Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Amy’s Greenhouse and Barnard School will have a Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony and Brick Unveiling Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 129 Barnard Road.

The City of New Rochelle will hold a Sept. 11 10th Anniversary Candlelight Memorial Ceremony Sunday at 8 p.m. on the front lawn of City Hall. The event will be moved to City Hall Council Chambers in case of rain.

Habitat for Humanity of Westchester is having a Build-A-Thon beginning Thursday until September 18.

Iona College will also hold Sept. 11 events with a Sept. 11 Commemoration service in the college’s Murphy Auditorium at noon on Friday to observe the memory of the school's 15 alumni and others whose lives were taken in the terrorist attacks on Sept 11.

Community Markets will have a farmers market Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the library green.
