What’s Happening in New Rochelle This Weekend
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – League of Women Voters of New Rochelle coffee and conversation, college commencements, and friends of the New Rochelle Public Library book store are some of the events planned over the weekend.
Friday, May 18
Senior Benefits Information Center: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Assistance in identifying benefits such as Medicare health and prescription, food stamps, HEAP, EPIC, weatherization, minor home repairs, tax-relief programs and others is available in the New Rochelle Public Library’s new information center. Trained volunteers provide free, confidential one-on-one counseling and access to print and online materials. BTOP Help Center, second floor, New Rochelle Public Library, One Library Plaza.
League of Women Voters of New Rochelle Coffee and Conversation: 9:30 to 11 a.m. The New Rochelle LWV holds its monthly discussion on a variety of topics. Speakers are brought in who represent a variety of departments to talk with the community. New Rochelle Public Library, First Floor Meeting Room, One Library Plaza.
Saturday, May 19
Iona College Graduate Commencement: 11 a.m. The school holds its annual commencement ceremony for graduate students. Hynes Athletics Center. 715 North Ave.
College of New Rochelle Commencement: All Day. The school holds its annual commencement ceremony in New York City. Radio City Music Hall. 1260 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY.
Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library Book Store: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The organization has its bi-weekly book sale in the back of the first floor of the library. Books and other items wil be for sale. New Rochelle Public Library. One Library Plaza.
Sunday May 20
New Rochelle Public Library Concert: 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. The vocal ensemble of Cantemus returns for another program of classics, pop tunes, opera and Broadway melodies. Nineteen singers, under the direction of Jena Smith and accompanied by pianist Marianne Salzman will perform song from places such as New York to London, Paris, Vienna, Germany, Italy, the Near East and beyond.
