New Rochelle Gas Stations Look To Avoid Sandy-Like Shortages

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A new state law will help prevent long lines at gas stations in the event of a natural disaster like Superstorm Sandy, according to News 12 Westchester.

Gas station owners are now required to install power generators and a transfer switch so they can keep running in the event of longer power outages, News 12 Westchester reported. 

Owners are eligible for reimbursement from the state once the station is brought into compliance, News 12 Westchester said.
