Mount Vernon resident Eric Lee and New Rochelle resident Sincere Smith were arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court this week on a felony charge of second-degree murder.

At approximately 1 a.m. on Monday, members of the Mount Vernon Police Department were dispatched to a Washington Street residence, where there were reports of a man who had suffered a gunshot wound in the torso during an alleged robbery over a chain.

The victim, Trevon Boswell, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. This was the first homicide in Mount Vernon this year.

Both Lee and Smith remain remanded to the Westchester County Jail. They are due back in court next week.

It is not immediately clear if the fatal shooting is connected to a string of recent armed robberies in southern Westchester that is being investigated by police in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers.
