Three Charged in New Rochelle Street Mugging

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Two teenagers and a 21-year-old man were charged in connection with a robbery early Monday, New Rochelle police Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

Juvon Canty, 16, Tivon Canty, 18, and Lamar Ware, 21, were all charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault, both felonies, after mugging a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old at Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, Schaller said.

The 19-year-old was kicked in the left eye during the attack and suffered swelling and bleeding around the eye.

Tivon Canty was stopped in the 200 block of Webster Avenue by the department’s drug dog, Tank. Juvon Canty and Ware were apprehended by officers at First Street and Washington Avenue.

Police were not sure if a fourth person was involved.

Taxicab Robbery: A United Cab Co. driver was robbed at knife point Saturday after picking up three people and taking them to the 60 block of Remington Place. The driver gave up $70 after one of the passengers threatened the driver with a 6-inch kitchen knife. The robbers then fled.
