Jean Signori, a former Scarsdale resident, said "we found you," as she walked in the door of the new Heathcote Bootery, Inc. location with her grandson Luca Schettino, 8, and her granddaughter Alessia Schettino, 6, wearing her blue Edgewood t-shirt.
The Heathcote Bootery had been fitting children for about 37 years in the same Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center location until its' April 1 move to the Quaker Ridge Shopping Center in New Rochelle.
Signori had heard the shoe store had moved but was confused as to where. It was not until she went to the wrong shopping center and asked a man from the Scarsdale sanitation department did she learn of the store new, correct location.
"Most people have been able to find us," said Cossa. "By September probably everyone will know that we are here." The Heathcote Bootery has been spreading the word about their move through promotions, emails and word-of-mouth.
"The rent was too high over there," said Steve Cossa, store manager. "The economy hit us like everyone else." Cossa said the rent is less in New Rochelle and that the shopping center is busy.
Critter Comforts, which was on Weaver Street since 1992, has also moved from Scarsdale. The puppies and the store can be found at 822 Mamaroneck Ave. in Mamaroneck.
The Frame Place closed its' doors on Weaver Street about a month ago but still can be found at their other location called The Washington Square Art Gallery of Rye Brook in Rye Brook.
