NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Joshua Irby, the second man in connection with Saturday’s I-95 exit ramp shooting has been arrested according to information from New York State Police Troop K.
Irby was charged with second-degree attempted murder for his role in the incident following an investigation by members of the State Police Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Troop K Major Crimes Unit, the State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
The first man, Christopher Velez, was arrested Tuesday and was also charged with second-degree attempted murder.
Velez was in New Rochelle City Court Wednesday after being charged for shooting at the victims with an unknown caliber weapon on the ramp, police said. Velez is currently in Westchester County Jail with no bail, city court Chief Clerk James Generoso said Wednesday.
The two suspects are accused of pulling up alongside a vehicle at the bottom of an exit ramp around 4:30 a.m. Saturday and firing several rounds from a handgun into the vehicle occupied by a male and female victim, police said. Both victims were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The male suffered a graze wound, and the female was uninjured.
No additional suspects are being sought at this time though the investigation is ongoing.
