NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Power and cable television services have been restored to a New Rochelle neighborhood after a tractor-trailer truck knocked down wires late Tuesday, according to Verizon FiOS1 News.

The big rig driver told police that he hit low-hanging wires while going down Meadow Street, FiOS1 reported.

Police received numerous 911 calls around 11 p.m. and Con Ed crews were dispatched to the scene, FiOS1 reported.

The lights were restored shortly after midnight to about a dozen homes on the street and cable television crews also made repairs, according to the FiOS1 report.

The driver told FiOS1 reporters that he was ticketed for driving on a street that doesn’t allow trucks.
